Summary: How the captain got his callsign
Spoilers/Disclaimers: Not much unless you havent seen the mini...
For the record: I do not own, nor do I claim ownership of characters or concepts from Battlestar Galactica,
I buried my head, and tried unsuccessfully to hide.
They had to be joking!
But they weren't, they really wanted to know where the nickname came from and I knew that look on Kara's face, I was ever telling, or leaving the room via Paramedic express.
“Come on! We told you ours!”
I shot the offender, Lieutenant Breaker, as in Electric Breaker Circuit after what he did to an entire wing at the academy first day there, a dark, foreboding look.
But gave in.
I really wanted to tell this, not.
“Well, initially they wanted to call me Wargame but that had been taken. It was a reference to one of my favourite past times, I wargamed a lot on Caprica and kept this up when I joined the academy, especially Warhammer 40,000 and Battlefleet Gothic, in fact my first game at the academy is where this starts…
First game when you join the academy wargaming club is always a team-up, you join a long term member and a small group of your models are attached as an allied force for the battle.
The first game was Battlefleet Gothic, a clash between Imperial and Traitor Fleets, uhm, Battlefleet Gothic for those who don't know is a game of spaceship battles, and the loyalists were winning, my ally was largely crushed and all bar one of my ships was crippled. The other ship was the chaos eternus, a rather nasty heavy cruiser which hadn't yet arrived from reserve.
Now, the Imperial Player decides to send his light elements, escorts and light cruisers on a flanking manoeuvre, running along the edge of the board.
This was when chaos eternus arrived from reserve, on the same board edge. Not only the same edge, but so placed by the random role of the dice that the flanking forces would have to pass by the chaos eternus to continue their advance.
They decided quite naturally to engage the chaos, after all it was one ship and they had eight so must likely they would destroy her quickly.
Two turns of weapons fire later, chaos eternus moved to flank the Imperial Fleet, their own flanking force destroyed.
The next battle the chaos deployed with the rest of the fleet.
And promptly destroyed a Battle Cruiser, pretty much single-handedly before ramming and destroying a Battleship.
At that point, well everyone in the group was calling me chaos and it ended up sticking”
I glanced around at the glazed expressions on the other pilots eyes, they hadn't followed me. I knew that would happen but…
Then I caught Lee's eyes and his weren't glazed.
He glanced around to make sure he wasn't being watched them reached into a pocket, withdrawing enough of a model for me to recognise an Imperial Escort.
I blinked, astonished.
The tight arse Cag, the commander's brat played Battlefleet Gothic.
Naahh… he had to be pulling my chain.
